On Tuesday July 15, 2014 Cole Sand joined fellow Disney Channel actor Jimmy Bellinger and dancer/ model / singer/actress Jordyn Jones at a local elementary school.
He was asked to talk to the students (who all have special needs) about how he reaches his dreams and give them advice to meet theirs.
Cole shares that when he auditioned to play the part of Nelson on Austin and Ally the casting call was for boys 9-11 . Cole had just turned 7.
He didn’t let that stop him. He read for the part and came back for several more meetings with the directors and producers. He finally got the part.
He also shared that he had struggled with speech problems and that he had to work hard to speak slower and to pronounce each sound in words so the audience could understand him.
He answered questions the kids asked and said he loved working on the show and began acting as a baby!
His advice to the kids was to think about what their goals were and then to make a list of what steps they would need to meet them. He said start with small steps and soon they would be well on their way to achieving their goal.
He then signed head shots for the kids and posed for pictures. He even said his signature line “aww Nartz” when kids asked him to. It was SO sweet of Cole to take time out of his busy summer and spend time with these students.
