Bella Thorne announced on Twitter that she will star alongside Mae Whitman in CBS Films’ comedy “The DUFF”.
Ari Sandel will direct a script by Josh A. Cagan, who adapted the novel of the same name by Kody Keplinger.
The story follows Bianca (Whitman), a high school senior whose world is turned upside down when she discovers she’s been labeled her social group’s DUFF (designated ugly fat friend), a sidekick of sorts to her prettier, more popular friends. She becomes determined to reinvent herself, enlisting her fellow DUFFs in a scheme to overthrow Madison, the school’s evil queen.
Thorne will play Madison, who will do everything in her power to keep Bianca in her place as a DUFF. Sounds like Bella will be playing a mean girl!
Bella is currently filming Amityville with co stars Cameron Monaghan and McKenna Grace. Jennifer Jason Leigh plays their mother.
Her movie, Blended, with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore hits theaters at the end of May.
Her other movies:
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day, Home Invasion, Big Sky and Mostly Ghostly 2, are in post production.
This is turning out to be a busy year for Bella who is also supporting several charities and a spokesperson for Neutrogena.
