Zendaya Fans know from her Tweets and posts on social media that she has been filming a Disney Channel Original Movie in Canada.
The film “Zapped” is based on a book by Leslie Margolis.
Here’s what we’ve learned.
It centers on 16 year-old Zoey Stevens (Zendaya), a skilled dancer and straight-A student who is having a hard time adjusting to a new high school, a new and klutzy dance squad, a new step-dad, three new rowdy step-brothers and an unruly dog. But things change when a dog training app on her smart phone begins to somehow control all the boys around her.
It seems like the writers have changed the story from the book a little because Amazon has this description.
“Annabelle’s all-girls elementary was very different from Birchwood Middle School where the boys run through the halls like wild animals. But with a little experimenting, Annabelle realizes that like her new puppy, maybe boys can be trained too.
Featuring Annabelle’s hilarious take on friendship, boys, and her all-new life, this novel / survival guide perfectly captures the joy—and agony—of junior high school. And it might just teach you how to tame the wildest beast of all, the teenage boy.”
Either way it sounds like a funny movie and so cool that Zendaya will be portraying a dancer. Maybe we will see her dance in the movie.
The cast also includes Chanelle Peloso (Radio Rebel), Spencer Boldman (Lab Rats), Emilia McCarthy (Hemlock Grove) and Adam DiMarco (Radio Rebel).
The movie will premiere on Disney Channel as well as on Canada’s Family Channel in 2014.
Zendaya Also has a few other projects she’s working on. Her advice book Between U and Me is being released August 27 and her self-titled debut album will premiere September 27.
She will turn 17 on September 1, 2013
